SAVE THE DATE. BOOKING INFO COMING SOON

Description:
This workshop is an embodied exploration of shoulder alignment through the lens of the Axis Syllabus. With a focus on dynamic anatomy, we’ll unpack the functional architecture of the shoulder girdle—its range, resilience, and responsive potential within dance and daily movement.

Using guided improvisation, hands-on tasks, solo inquiry, and partnered explorations, we will:

  • Investigate the anatomical structure of the shoulder complex (clavicle, scapula, humerus, sternum)

  • Explore its relationship with the spine, ribcage, and breath

  • Work with tools to release habitual tension and increase mobility without compromising stability

  • Develop strategies for sustainable, efficient movement patterns

  • Integrate alignment awareness into dance sequences, grounding it in sensation and movement

Throughout the session, we’ll refer to Axis Syllabus principles such as kinetic chains, spiral dynamics, and fascia connectivity. The workshop is both informative and experiential, balancing technical insight with creative embodiment.

Who is it for?
Dancers, movers, somatic practitioners, and curious bodies of all kinds. No previous experience with the Axis Syllabus is necessary.

The Bents (Benefits):

  • Improved shoulder mobility, clarity, and control

  • Reduced strain and overuse in arms, neck, and upper back

  • A deeper understanding of shoulder anatomy in motion

  • Tools for injury prevention and long-term joint health

  • Enhanced proprioception and expressive range in dance

  • A more integrated, whole-body approach to alignment

Come ready to move, sense, and discover the intelligence within your shoulders—an invitation to dance from a place of grounded fluidity and anatomical awareness.
