What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a holistic approach to working with the body. It focuses on the interconnected nature of all systems of the body and the importance of movement within these systems for health: motion is lotion.
Osteopaths use talking and hands on touch to help people move towards health.
As an osteopath I am fully insured and I am registered with the General Osteopathic Council, the national governing body who oversee osteopaths and promote excellence in patient care.
How I work
Since starting to treat patients as a massage therapist in 2000 I've had huge enthusiasm for helping people get the most out of their bodies. I have worked with a wide range of people from elite performers to pregnant women and older people and am always committed to finding the right way to treat each person.
I understand that as people and as patients we are more than the sum of our parts. -The context we live in shapes how we feel and in turn, how we feel affects and shapes our body. Whether you are a hardworking IT consultant coping with stress at work, or a motivated athlete training for your next event, I will always consider your individual needs and tailor my treatment and advice to help you achieve your goals.
When I treat I use my experience as a teacher of the Axis Syllabus universal motion principles and background as a professional dancer. These expertise support a functional overview from which to offer movement exercises and treatment approaches, which patients report is extremely valuable to them. What happens at a consultation?
A typical consultation last between 40 minutes to an hour, first consultations 1 hour 20 minutes. We would start by talking about why you’ve come to see me and I will ask some medical history questions. I would continue by suggesting a diagnosis and course of treatment which, if you are satisfied with, we would continue to treat with hands on treatment or movement exercises as needed. You can be treated in loose comfortable clothing or in your underwear- whichever you feel more comfortable in. After treatment I offer you advice for exercises or self care at home and you can always get in contact if problems arise.
How much does a consultation cost?
I charge between £35 -low income to £55 -mid income, £65 high income, per session. Please contact me if you are having financial issues as I try to accommodate people with all kinds of needs and believe cost should not be a barrier to treatment.
I see patients most weekdays and some Saturday mornings in North London. Please contact me for more information or to book an appointment.
“Zoë is one of the most intuitively gifted healing practitioners I have met. I first came to Zoë after injuring my knee, she gave me a deep holistic treatment, which included rehabilitation as well as work on the injury itself. As a performer myself, I felt she really understood how important regaining my freedom of movement was. I have since returned for numerous treatments and can’t recommend her highly enough.”
